PSA: Stay Safe When Buying BlizzCon Tickets (3rd-Party Sales & First-Wave Buying Tips!)

BlizzCon hype is real — but so are the scams. Every year, someone gets burned, and I don’t want that to be you. Let’s look out for each other and keep our community safe.

3rd-Party Ticket Safety — Read Before You Buy

If you’re purchasing a BlizzCon ticket from a 3rd party, treat it like you’re buying a legendary… not jumping into a gold scam in Trade Chat.

RULE #1: Use PayPal Goods & Services

  • ✅ Goods & Services ONLY
  • NEVER Friends & Family — you lose protection and scammers love that
  • If they insist on F&F? Walk. Away. 🚩

Use a credit card whenever possible

  • Credit cards offer dispute protection. Debit cards don’t.

 NO wire transfers. Ever.

  • This is not a Nigerian prince situation. Don’t do it.

 Do not rush or panic-buy

  • “Too good to be true?” It is.
  • Scammers feed on hype and urgency. Don’t bite.

Tickets ALWAYS pop up closer to the event

  • People’s plans change, life happens.
  • There’s always tickets available up until the day of the convention

 Buy only in trusted spaces
Stick to verified communities like:

If your gut says no… trust it. Walk away. There will be more tickets.

Tips for the Official Ticket Sale

Treat it like raid – grouping up with your friends makes your chance of success greater.

 Buddy system

  • Coordinate with friends — you’re a raid team today
  • Multiple people queueing = better odds for everyone

 Prepare your payment method

  • Make sure your card has room
  • Notify your bank/credit card ahead of time
  • Input your card into TIXR before sale day

Make your TIXR account early

  • Don’t be that person setting up logins at 11:59am

Be ready BEFORE 12 PM EST

  • Being on the site at noon = too late
  • But don’t spam refresh at 10 AM either — pace yourself

 Stay calm, stay focused

  • Blizzard queues are like dungeon queues — patience and prep are key

 Blizzard’s Official Transfer Rules Summary

  • Max 4 tickets per account
  • Only ONE transfer per ticket — once it moves, that’s it
  • Charity Night & Darkmoon add-ons cannot be resold
  • Transfers are final once claimed — no recall, no undo button

Final word

Above all else — use your head and protect your wallet.
If something feels off, it probably is. No con badge is worth getting scammed.

Let’s keep each other safe and make sure everyone who wants to be there… gets there the right way.

See you at BlizzCon! 🧡💙
